One workspace for everyday PDF work

Start with one PDF or bring several files into the editor above. AlphaPDF keeps the page preview, page order and export controls together, so you can review your changes before downloading. Prepare a report, complete a form, tidy a scanned attachment or assemble documents for sharing. Upload a PDF, select a page in the rail, then choose the controls you need. The original upload and exported result are stored separately.

What can you do with your PDF?

Combine documents, split a long file into smaller sections or extract only the pages you need. Rearrange pages by dragging their thumbnails, remove duplicates and rotate pages that arrived sideways. Crop unwanted margins, edit supported existing text or place new text on a page. Add checkboxes, highlight important passages, draw notes and place a visual signature. Finish with a watermark, page numbers or a compression preset, then check the downloaded result before sending it.

For other formats and advanced processing, Premium provides conversion and document security tools. These run as separate jobs in your account workspace. Choose a tool below to see its accepted files and options. Check conversions carefully: the source layout, fonts and scan quality can affect the result.

Why your files stay private

AlphaPDF processes uploaded files on its servers. Downloads are checked against the signed-in owner or the anonymous browser session that created the workspace. Another visitor cannot use your file link to download your document through their own session. Keep access to your account and browser secure, especially on a shared device. A private workspace does not mean that processing happens only on your computer.

You can return to your file history to review or delete work. Premium jobs offer retention settings of 1, 7 or 30 days. Read the Privacy Policy for information about data handling and use the privacy controls to manage your preferences. Download anything you want to keep before deleting it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I start without an account?

Yes. Open a PDF in the editor without signing in. Each device gets 3 successful standard exports per UTC day, shared by anonymous and signed-in free users. The allowance resets at 00:00 UTC (UTC midnight). Signing in, signing out or switching free accounts does not change it. No signup is needed to return tomorrow. Premium includes unlimited editor exports.

How do I merge several PDFs?

Upload multiple PDFs together or add another PDF to an open workspace. Drag the page thumbnails into the order you want, inspect the pages and export the combined document. Your original files remain separate from the new result.

Can I edit a scanned document?

You can add text and annotations over a scan in the editor. A scan without a text layer has no existing text to retype. OCR tools remain under output-quality review and are not currently recommended as a reason to buy Pro.

Does compression always make a file smaller?

No. Results depend on the images and compression already in the source. Choose a preset that suits your intended use, compare the exported size and check small text and pictures before replacing a higher-quality copy.

Is a drawn signature a certificate signature?

No. A drawn or typed signature places a visible mark on the page. Certificate signing is a separate Premium workflow that uses a P12 or PFX certificate. Whether a reader trusts that certificate depends on its certificate chain.

How do I continue editing later?

Reopen available work from file history using the same anonymous session or signed-in account. Keep a downloaded copy for your records. Deleting a job or reaching its retention limit means you should not rely on that workspace for long-term storage.
